I have tried for years to find a great shampoo for my blonde color treated hair. This shampoo is unlike any blonde specific shampoo I've ever used. My hair has so much body, the color continues to stay vibrant, and it feels so moisturized. It continuously looks like I just got my hair colored and keeps it looking so fresh. It's worth it to spend a little more on this shampoo to have your hair looking this great.
makes hair shiny and nourished, but the scent is too strong
I recently purchased this and the corresponding conditioner. I have highly lifted platinum blonde hair. It's an endless quest to find a shampoo that both tones and hydrates, that eliminates brass without turning my hair purple. Sunset Blvd shampoo manages to do this. I've used it 5 times now over the course of 2 weeks, and here's my two cents: Unlike many toning shampoos used before, this one isn't purple, rather it's silver. It has mica in the ingredients, and you can see sparkle in the shampoo itself, and this sparkle translates to a lovely shine in my hair (since platinum hair is usually very dry, it often has a matte finish to it, so the shine is appreciated). The silver also does tone brassiness somewhat, but for hair that is extremely brassy or yellow, or platinum hair washed in well water will still need to use a purple toning shampoo.
Overall, this shampoo really does impart moisture and shine, and my hair just feels healthier and more nourished after using this shampoo. The packaging is cute as well, but doesn't really affect my opinion of the product. I would have given this 5 stars, but for the scent. It's been my experience with toning shampoos that they are generally perfumey, and this was no exception. The fragrance itself isn't BAD, it's just too strong, both in this and the matching conditioner. It's like someone poured a whole bottle of perfume in each 8.5 bottle. And it lingers - I shampooed and conditioned 33 hours ago, blow dried and used minimal other products, but I can still smell the scent from this product. Even going in my bathroom 33 hours later (and after others have used the shower) I can STILL smell it. If R+Co could tone down the scent of this product and the conditioner, they would have an undisputed winner in this blonde's book.
Great smell, not great for sensitive skin
I really really love the smell of this shampoo. I'm a "box blonde" who tends to go brassy quickly after having my hair done, so I wanted a purple shampoo to help keep the "iciness" to my color. While this seemed to help tone down the brass a bit, after about a week and a half of daily use, my scalp became extremely irritated, itchy, and covered in red splotches so I had to discontinue use. I have extremely sensitive skin, so I'm sure this is a rare case, but really disappointed I purchased the full size and now can no longer use it.

It certainly works
The shampoo has kept my hair bright and shiny months after my balayage - it works really well! However, it is not moisturizing and leaves your hair feeling dry. I highly recommend following this up with a good moisturizing conditioner (I use amika), instead of the accompanying R+Co Sunset Blvd Blonde Conditioner. Another option: add a dime-size to your moisturizing shampoo.
