Birchbox Breakdown

A favorite of fashion bloggers, off-duty models, and the rest of us on the hunt for an easy weekend look, the ubiquitous topknot shows no signs of abating. But much like winning a round of Candy Crush Saga, the seemingly simple ’do can be tricky to master. With this plight in mind, hair genius Sarah Potempa created The WRAP UP™, a nifty tool that helps you score the perfect topknot, sleek chignon, or tousled low bun. Made with strong, cushy foam, The WRAP UP™ secures your updo without the help of a zillion bobby pins—. Three hair color-matching options, Black, Brunette, and Blonde, ensure your secret weapon remains a secret.

How to Use

Pull your hair into a ponytail on the top of your head (or lower, depending upon your preferred style). Hold the end of your pony straight up in the air, and slip it through the center hole of The WRAP UP™. Now roll it down your pony, spreading and tucking hair around it as you go. Once you reach the base of your ponytail, bend the sides of the grip to secure your bun—no bobby pins needed.

Love but keeps breaking
Purchased

I absolutely love the look that I get from using this product. However I've purchased two of these and both have broken after ~6 uses. The metal is very flimsy. I wish it was made better but I can't justify spending the money to constantly rebuy it.

Not for Thin Hair
Purchased

I love the idea of this but I just don't have thick enough hair to pull it off and the wrap up shows through my bun. Oh well...

Works SO good!!!
Purchased

I was skeptical when I first saw this because I've tried those other foam rings for buns, and using a sock was always way easier. However, this thing is awesome! The way it pinches the hair at the end helps you to get your layers more evenly into the bun. It's great!

Used to work great...
Purchased

I've always wanted to wear sock buns, but could never figure them out, so I was really excited to try this product. It took me a couple tries to get it right, but once I figured it out I fell in love with it!

It worked for my thick and wavy hair, but it's advertised poorly because if you have layers in your hair, you'll definitely need bobby pins to secure whatever falls out in the back. But I didn't mind that.

Before last week, I would have given this product 5 stars. However, after 10-12 uses, the metal wire inside the foam snapped and it's no longer usable. I was always really careful when bending it and straightening it out when I was finished because I read a few reviews about the wire breaking, so I was extremely disappointed to find that the wire in mine snapped. So if you decide to purchase this product, just know that it will likely snap in half because the wire inside the foam is super flimsy.

Nice...better on third day hair though.

I have long hair and I put it up a lot. Since I usually only have to wash it every four days (I use Wen), I wear it down the first two days and up the third and fourth. Previously I was using a hair donut from Sally's, but I had to use a ton of pins. Not so with this! I put my hair into a pony tail and then roll it. The only trouble I am having is getting my hair to not separate in the back where the two end of the accessory come together. I usually use a pin to secure that area. I'll keep experimenting. I used this weekend to keep my hair up as I was just hanging around the house and I liked it. I've read other people talking about how it breaks easily. I hope not, but time will tell.

Easy To Use

So much easier to use than a bun holder. Simple and stylish. The directions and video describe the tool and use perfectly. Definitely would recommend this item.

Easier than a sock!
Purchased

I really have enjoyed this product so far. It makes putting my hair into a "sock" type bun much easier, but because my hair is thin, it is sometimes tricky to cover the wrap

Just needed a few bobby pins to pull it off
Purchased

I have very thick (enough to get charged extra for my root touch-up) hair down to my mid-back with some layers to help with the weight. This tool wraps about 95% of my hair into the adorable bun. The other 5% is layers that are just too short to wrap properly, but they are super easily dealt with using bobby pins, and the size of the bun hides the pinned ends perfectly.

I also stabilize the whole bun with a couple of bobby pins in the top. I love the look I get from this and will probably live in the thing come summer.

Difficult to use?
Purchased

This hair device is difficult for me to use but it may be my layered hair that makes this so difficult and not the product? So far it's not been workable for me.
I wouldn't recommend this unless your hair is not layered and very long. Line is about an inch past my shoulders and it's a no go for me.
