When we teamed up with NYC-based fashion label RUFFIAN to launch their first nail lacquer collection, we knew just who could help us choose the three high-style shades to feature in this exclusive collection: you. We asked for your color votes, and the results flooded in. This set of super-luxe polishes is fashion forward with a dash of daring—just how we like it. The high-gloss formula is also chip-resistant, so your mani will stay put for days. Now that’s what we call a team effort, and a gorgeous one at that.
I finally decided to use Hedgefund. It's a deep olive with a gold wash. The gold wash is a lovely subtle accent. No fear of glitter club kid. I was disappointed that it did chip rather quickly. I can't say that I'm a fan of this shade, but it works as a neutral despite being a dark hue. Summer posh when you want an elegant reserved color.2
The is super cool rich deep red. And I love the packaging! Very unique bottle. Long wearing. Never heard of it before, so Nice.3
Durable, long lasting, vibrant and glamorous. You could not ask for more from a polish. To make it last even longer I went on to purchase the top coat too.5
I knew I was going to love the purple and green but I was nervous about the Orange. Turns out that the Orange is my favorite of the three. It is an amazing color and great for any season.5
When I first tried the red ruffian nail polish I was thrilled: it is really easy to use. The polish runs softly and it is more even than other brands (you dont have to struggle to get the salon look). It also lasted over a week without loosing its shine. I got a bit tired of the color and I decided to change it, and that is when the problems started: taking it off was very difficult. I am not sure if I like this or not.
I wouldn't purchase this. I do think its a pretty color ( Lady of the Night ) but it didn't brush on very well. Left some major polish clumps that were hard to get out. I also thought the design of the handle/brush made it difficult to hold, felt like I was going to drop it several times.
As an Independent consultant for a major nail company, I still like to test out other products and see how they compare... this polish just doesn't work for me.
I loved all the colors in the collection. The lacquer looks really nice on my nails and it seems like a high quality product. Itlasts a long time on my nails.3
I received this as a free gift with my Birchbox purchase. First of all, to get three almost full-size polishes for free is a bargain.
I give myself a manicure most weeks and am partial to Essie (though a great OPI color sneaks in every now and again). Instead, I gave Hedge Fund a try this week. The color is awesome - it's unique and edgy, but still subtle enough for work. I'm not sure the gold-based olive looks great with my fair skin, but I'm rocking it anyway :)
The purple is gorgeous - can't wait to try that one next! Fox Hunt is a true bright orange - I'm saving that for my toes this summer.
Beautiful fun color combination that is going to look amazing for New Years. It goes on smoothly and stays longer than most other nail polish.5
I've been kind of a skeptic of Ruffian since they launched their nail lacquer collection on Birchbox. I'm a devout Deborah Lippman fanatic, but sometimes $18 a bottle is just a little much for me. I got this collection in the mail last night and when I opened up the box, the colors didn't seem as "vivid" as they seem online. They are really pigmented, so it's nice that you only need one coat & the job is done. I'm currently wearing the green "hedge fund" color & I like it. I was expecting it to be a little bit more glossy than advertised, but a good top coat will take care of it.4
