Ernest Hemingway, exemplar of all things craggy and masculine, was the inspiration for this complex fragrance—but don’t expect notes of rum and tobacco. This is a cultured fragrance for a cultured man. Papa would approve.
My wife gave this to me as an anniversary gift and while I typically don't let her pick out my fragrances, I whole-heartily approve of Hemingway.
It has the wonderful scent of tobacco, rum, and bay oil. At first I though about reserving its use for fall and winter, but even in spring it seems to fit. Every time that I have the cologne on, without a doubt, I get a compliment from someone.
While the bottle seems expensive at first, a little goes a long with with Hemingway. Like his use of adverbs and passive sentences, be minimal.
This fragrance is very nice! It contains a healthy dose of spices, pepper, tobacco, and rum. It is supposedly inspired by Ernest Hemingway, and based off the fragrance notes, I can see the inspiration. Although Hemingway was a manly man, I think guys of every age could wear this fragrance without any problem, but I would probably limit this to the fall and winter seasons.
I get more compliments from this scent than any other cologne I own. Both women and men love it. Although it is expensive, it is totally worth it. Use it on special occasions.
This is a great scent for everyday use or for special occasions. Women and men alike turn their heads when I pass by as if they can't place the scent and are drawn to it. A spritz on my neck and one on my wrist and that's enough to last all day and into the night.
Received this sample in my Birchbox and just HAD to buy the full-size. The ladies in my life love the smell. Very versatile and unique. I wear this very frequently.
I left a cologne I had been wearing for years after smelling Histories de Parfums 1899. It is clean, light, refreshing while still maintaining a masculine scent.
The Hemingway reference made this stand out. I wasn't crazy about the fragrance at first -- it is much stronger than I am accustomed to wearing. But it grew on me. And others liked it.
I didn't mind the fragrance, but for me, the wife calls the shots when it comes to my scents. She wasn't a fan.
Complex, mellow, classy. This product is able to last all day, and the smell changes nicely. Not too overbearing or strong and does not cause someone to cough like some other fragrances. It is not suffocating and really is elegant. Definitely recommended for all men!
i have loved the smell of this ever since I got the sample months ago. i wanted to buy it last year but it was always sold out. now i get a chance to get it.
