Arquiste Aleksandr

Like a weatherworn traveler coming in from the cold, this fragrance exists in a state of change. Inspired by Russian winters, love affairs, and the fiery novels of Alexander Pushkin, its aroma evolves from a crisp, citrus opening to a warm, woodsy finish. The result is a unique scent that’s made to inspire memories, whether you’re sitting by the fire, or off for a wintry walk.

Decent

Received in my February Birchbox. Not my favorite scent and probably would not have purchased, because it is not as masculine as I would typically wear.

Add a little luxury to your routine
Purchased

I noticed a lot of folks commented on the price. Let's get that out of the way first. This is an eau de parfum from a niche fragrance line. This type of fragrance is normally never under one-hundred dollars, but you do get what you pay for. It is concentrated, has great silage, and is blended from quality ingredients. It smells very natural. I love the play between the violet and the leather; I feel that these two ingredients in particular play back and forth throughout the day. Unlike a lot of leather scents, this one is softer, more evocative and less literal. Aleksandr Pushkin, the Russian poet for whom Aleksandr is named, is a national hero in Russia. In his short life, he had love affairs, attended the best parties, wrote poetry like a rock star, and went out of this world in a duel. I can't think of anything sexier than that. Buy this now! Light enough to wear to work every day, versatile enough for summer, spring, winter, or fall, and sophisticated enough for a black-tie affair. Get this, and you will get noticed.

Ok

The smell was great, just a bit too pricey. Love the samples though so I can see what to purchase next.

Wonderful scent - not commensurate price point

Great scent. All aforementioned descriptions are pretty accurate. Only problem is that this has to be one of the more expensive bottles (of any cologne) to purchase. They have priced themselves out of my interest - and clearly others too feel the same.

Unique scent

I don't typically wear colognes, and this was definitely not typically what i would wear if I did, but I found the scent pleasantly intriguing and will definitely give it a shot when I do decide to put a slash on. It was a little citrusy and sweet, but not too much so, and it still was mildly masculine. I would most definitely not pay for a full bottle, but I'm happy with the sample.

Smell's different...

The smell of this fragrance was unlike any I've ever tried. It was almost the smell of what fire would smell like, not burning, just heat. In any event, I applied a dab to each wrist and felt as if it wasn't noticeable enough so I had to put a little more on. It's definitely subtle. This supposedly is unisex, but I can't imagine a woman liking the "fiery" smell I mentioned. I have smelled better fragrances and for the price I would choose something else.

Smells good

Cologne is nice, they all smell good but not really a difference maker here. Its got a nice wintry touch I suppose but not enough here to change my daily.

Smelly old people

with the sweet scent of powdery latex gloves and Sensidine, as well as a scent of a Bob Evans Restaurant and their patronage during a dinner rush on the hottest day of the summer in New Orleans. Wow. Just picture that for a minute. Sweaty, fat, old people, and old people products all mixed together and finely packaged so arquistely.

Debating if it is worth the price...

One of the major things to consider when pricing a fragrance is what it is... what does that mean? Is it a eau de toilette (alcohol based watered down fragrance) or is a parfum (oil based). Alcohol is typically added to parfums to stretch them out. Parfums cost more, requires less per application, and last on the skin longer.

This is a good fragrance, but I am not sure that the price point puts it in the same category as a Creed per se. I do like it and there is a good possibility that I may splurge on a bottle if it is a parfum.
