Don’t gloss over the “Blah Blah” section, which is packed with need-to-know intel like the current taxi fare from JFK to downtown New York.

Birchbox Breakdown

Anyone with a smart phone can track down a Michelin-star restaurant in Paris or point you in the direction of the Forbidden City. But this slim, deeply researched line of guidebooks—don’t expect maps, illustrations, or any of the otherwise Google-able info you’d find stuffed in fatter versions—specializes in the type of locales known only to the natives. It’s the kind of unabashedly opinionated editorial advice that will send you happily flying solo. And it’s executed with so much brevity and class that the guides can fit comfortably into a pocket or your carry-on.

How to Use

For each of 33 destinations, a savvy local has distilled the essential places to sleep and eat, must-do activities, and practical information for you to enjoy on the fly. Every entry undergoes quality control by LUXE’s globetrotting editorial staff and print guides are complemented by online updates. In other words, you can plan your trip without worrying whether that pop-up shop or nomadic cocktail bar has already skipped town.

Rich with information- and bad attitude
Purchased

I like the idea of this guide- I purchased the London and Paris guides to help plan our honeymoon- but I found the writing to be very condescending. A complete turn-off! Even if it does have helpful information, I'm much less likely to even open one again because no one likes to be talked down to when trying to plan a relaxing vacation!

This is an accordion-style brochure that has good content but it's not an inspiring "plan the dream vacation" piece I was hoping for. It is more for the person who has already booked their trip and uses as a guide book during the vacation.

MUST HAVE for the Globe Trotter!!!

I lived abroad in Asia for over 2 years and I made sure to pick one of these up for every city I visited.. From Beijing to Bangkok, these never lead me astray!!! Obviously they are compact, but a must have for the traveller who enjoys the finer things!!

Wasn't very helpful, or useful

Got the city guide for SF, didn't give me any more insight into things to do, that I already didn't know. Almost all the stuff I could have found online.

Cool but Gimmick

Great concept but the setup is too much of a gimmick to give any real teeth. Another version of Cliff Notes.
