Birchbox Breakdown

We love a smoky eye as much as the next girl, but that foam-tipped applicator that came with your smoky eye palette just won’t cut it. Use this all-in-one Smokey Eye Brush instead. The round shape is perfect for smudging and blending your various powders, while the pointed tip lets you draw a precise line.

How to Use

Dab brush in favorite shadow and lightly smooth over lids. Or, use the pointed tip to line your eyes with shadow.

Stiff and bushy

Sure, this brush will help you make a smoky eye - and tear up the skin around your eyes in the process. Mine also has no point to speak of - just a splayed out cylinder of bristles. You'd be better off using that foam-tipped applicator that came with your smoky eye palette, and giving this to your nephew for his paint box.

Very Useful Brush for Eyeshadow Detail

First of all, this is NOT a brush designed to be used for your main eyeshadow application. Though not currently available on Birchbox, MAKE does sell a larger rounded eyeshadow powder brush (Expert Shadow Brush #6) for that purpose. Neither is this designed to be used primarily as an eyeliner brush (see instead MAKE's Expert Shadow Liner Brush #14), though its pointed tip could probably do you in a pinch. What it is is a relatively small eye detailing brush, which allows you to blend a number of shades with excellent accuracy. I find it particularly useful for highlighting colors under the brow and around the interior of the eye.

The quality of the brush itself has been (so far) very high, though I prefer my powder brushes to be all natural rather than a synthetic/natural blend. (This one includes pony hair, like most of my brushes. Notably, the Expert Shadow Brush is all goat hair.) When the time comes to replace some of my other brushes, MAKE will certainly get another look.

Bushey Brush

I got this brush as a freebie from ordering some Make products. I was very disappointed, because it says it is good for many things including making precise lines. If you are buying it for precise lines, there is no way this brush could create that...it is way too bushey.

I have not tried it for smudging or blending, as this was not why I purchased it.

not what I thought
Purchased

The tip of this brush is so small/pointy that it nearly draws a line of shadow. I was thinking/hoping it was just a bit bigger.
