This duo is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a matte lipstick with very true pigment and a primer to help keep it true. It is worth noting that both the primer and the lipstick were thicker (read: less creamy) than I'd anticipated. In particular, the lipstick applies much easier from the tube rather than with a lip brush, which I use to keep the lines clean around my cupid's bow and lower lip. (Note: I'm not impressed with the quality of the bullets themselves, which seem even at first use to be a little flimsy. Hopefully, they'll both hold up well enough.) Both rest smoothly on the lip and have considerable staying power. Though not particularly moisturizing on their own, they aren't at all drying and help create a seal to preserve hydration and prevent chapping. Because the shade of lipstick is very bright, I chose to use an invisible lip liner as well, even though the description of the primer claims this is unnecessary.
Most importantly, I think THIS IS MY RED. (Maraschino Cherry) It's noticeably more pink than the image provided suggests or it looks in the tube, which is a big part of the reason it works. After years of trying out reds with too much orange/yellow/coral undertone (which is really difficult to see in the bullet), this red has just enough pink to be compatible with my own cool pink undertones. For those with similar coloring looking for a classic red lipstick, I STRONGLY recommend trying it out.
