It's perhaps the most appealing quality of MAKE's eyeshadows that they can be dusted dry for a sweep of light color or layered wet for an intense true pigment. The Calypso palette is curated with just this in mind. The heavily glittered Alabaster gives a bright mostly translucent burst of highlight, the darker shades—such as Woad, Midnight, and Cast Iron—can be used wet with an eyeliner brush as you would apply a cake liner, and the brighter shades—especially Aquamarine and Star Anise—can be applied wet for a more dramatic pop of color. The combination of effects around the eye you can get out of this one palette ranges from candy bright to subdued neutral, from shimmery to entirely matte.
The quality of the shadows themselves is very impressive. When used with a decent primer, color holds through the day, creasing is minimal even after hours of wear, and fallout onto the lower lid or upper cheek is nonexistent even with the most shimmery of finishes. As mentioned above, the intensity of the shade is variable but buildable, especially if applied wet. Well done, MAKE, well done.
