This Can't Be Right!

After six years of wanting to try this, I saw a box on the shelf in my local supermarket. I bought all the ingredients (butter, heavy cream, confectioner's sugar and eggs) and whipped it up. Once it had been refrigerated overnight, I tried it and couldn't believe what a disappointment it was!

Surely, the real Crack Pie does not taste like this! To me, it resembled pecan pie without the pecans. I've learned my lesson and can't wait until the fall when I go to NYC and can try the real deal!

Disappointed

I cant believe I never reviewed this. I came so close to ordering an expensive pie from NY and was so happy to see this. It was ok. I mean just ok. A lot of trouble to make imo seeing that you had to bake the cookies for the piecrust.

Good
Purchased

I purchased this as I have heard so much about "crack pie". The instructions call to use with a stand mixer, which I don't have, but was not a deterrent.
The only drawback is this is time consuming. You make the crust, let it set then add your filling the next day!! So if this is something you're planning on bringing to a party, know you need at least a day for the crust to set. Otherwise it received lots of great compliments.

Tasty, but felt overly complicated
Purchased

I was excited to try this, however, there were some drawbacks. Be prepared that it is a two day process You make your own Oat cookie crust, but I had the hardest time getting it to spread evenly and thinly, so edges burned. Once you make the custard like filling, you bake for a while and then open your oven and reduce temperature. As my oven does not have the digital temperature display, I had to manually lower the temp and guess when it had reached the correct temperature. It then needed to go into the freezer overnight.

It was tasty, almost a caramel like flavor and consistency, but not sure I would rush to make it again
