Birchbox Breakdown

The idea of a facial peel can be scary (anyone remember Samantha’s treatment-gone-awry in Sex and the City?), but in actuality, they can be really beneficial for your skin. philosophy’s two-step microdelivery peel delivers spa-grade exfoliation that can be used at home to freshen skin and combat the signs of aging. Enzymes resurface and restore a dull complexion while vitamin-rich crystals nourish and replenish.

How to Use

After washing face, apply a teaspoon-sized amount of vitamin c/peptide resurfacing crystals to clean dry skin. Gently massage crystals in a circular motion for up to 60 seconds, avoiding eyes. Massage a generous teaspoon-sized amount of activating gel on top of crystals (a foam will appear and a warming sensation will occur). Leave foam on for two to three minutes. Less sensitive skin types can massage foam for extra exfoliating benefits. Rinse thoroughly and moisturize as usual.

Bicarbonate vitamin C crystals: peg-6, sodium bicarbonate, oleth-20, glyceryl stearate se, silica, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, tocopheryl acetate, retinyl palmitate, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) oil, beta carotene, isopropylparaben, isobutylparaben, butylparaben, sodium hydroxymethylglycinate.

Rapid activation gel: water (aqua), lactic acid, hydroxyethylcellulose, linoleamidopropyl pg-dimonium chloride phosphate, polyquaternium 10, propylene glycol, diazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben.

Very nice

Not the strongest peel, but nice for exfoliation. Very rough not for sensitive skin.

Leaves skin soft

I bought this product in a desperate attempt to get rid of acne scarring, and unfortunately, it has not helped much with that. It does, however, make my skin extremely soft for about a week. It feels rough to use, but my sensitive skin does not burn after using.

Possibly the best peel on the market

I have used this product in the past & was delighted to find it on BB in a larger size & at a lower price. The first step is a sort of scrub, which you gently massage into your skin for 30 seconds or so. Without rinsing, you then gently blend the gel into the exfoliant scrub. The mild chemical reaction creates a sort of froth, which you leave on your skin for 2 - 3 minutes before rinsing with tepid water. This peel is mild enough for me to use a couple of times a week in the evening. However, I follow up with a moisturizing oil (To avoid irritation, I don't use a nighttime lotion or cream containing alcohol.) Leaves my skin looking & feeling smooth & soft, not dry or irritated. I can definitely see a decrease in fine lines & discolorations since I've been using this product. Every bit as good as a spa facial!

Love this peel!

I ordered this on a whim when I had a BirchBox coupon that I wanted to use. I have pretty fair skin, and I have a little bit of lasting acne scarring from when I was a teenager that leaves me with a slightly uneven skin tone. I've been on the market for a peel for a while but never wanted to try any out because of the high prices of most of these peels.

The peel is worth it. After using it for the first time, my skin felt completely new-the only way I can describe it is like my skin was feeling fresh air for the first time. The bottles are really small but you don't need to use much product, and I've only been using it once a week so I expect it to last for a while. I would recommend it!

Wonderfully gentle, but effective peel!

I've used literally hundreds of peels, and this is, without question, in the top five. I have sensitive skin, but I've never had a problem with this, and a little goes a long way. After I've applied the scrub I use what remains in my hands to scrub my hands, and elbows. I leaves my skin feeling refreshed, smooth, and because the dead skin cells have been sloughed off, my skin is glowing. Afterwards I apply one of my favorite serums, such as, Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment, Denese Hydroshield Ultra Moisturizing Serum. Alpha Hydrox Intensive Serum 14% Glycolic AHA, pure Argan oil, or a serum from my line WillaRose containing argan oil, olive oil squalane, jojoba oil, rose hip oil, zinc oxide, tea tree, and lemon grass essential oil, then I moisturizer with whipped argan oil, and lastly an eye cream. Your skin will feel, and look amazing.
