Birchbox Breakdown

For a classic shave, the “safety razor” is the aspiring purist’s first step. Channel Gregory Peck with this nod to old-fashioned grooming. A single blade has two sharp sides and a guard around the edges—and while using it requires extra care, the closer shave is totally worth it.

How to Use

Prep and lather your face and neck as usual. Pulling the skin with your fingers so it’s taut, shave slowly and carefully, with short strokes in the direction of hair growth. Do not apply any pressure with this kind of razor. Rinse your face and pat dry before applying aftershave and moisturizer.

Great razor for a fair price

I spent most of my teens and twenties using the 3-5 blade grocery store razors, willingly accepting the price tag because I feel I look ridiculous with any real facial hair. Then, one fantastic day, I read a blurb in GQ about safety razors: steep initial investment, but a huge money saver down the road (not to mention a significantly closer shave).

I did research like my thesis depended on it, narrowed it down to a few selections, and ultimately decided on this one because I liked the blurb written about it on the product page. It doesn't disappoint one bit! It's very well balanced and easy to control, making it great for a beginner, and I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get started on a cheaper, better way of shaving.
