Birchbox Breakdown

There’s more to backcombing than Snooki’s infamous pouf—trust us. Stylists rely on the technique to create volume for those with even the finest of hair, and they’ve been turning to Spornette to get the job done since the ’50s. This genius brush parts, teases, and styles like none other, whether you’re going for tousled waves or a glam look that screams red carpet cameo (just so long as it’s not reminiscent of a certain former show set on an East Coast shoreline).

How to Use

Use the tapered handle to separate dry hair near your crown into smaller sections. Brush towards the root in quick, sharp motions, ruffling the cuticle to achieve shape and volume. Gently smooth over your teased hair with the brush or your fingers, and then style into a ponytail or bun. Add a spritz of hairspray to keep your ’do in place from morning ’til night.

A classic must have if you need volume!
Purchased

This is my second spornette brush, my first being the smaller $8 brush. Back combing for volume very easy at roots for a lift with a good texture spray, dry shampoo, and my preferred Parlor sea salt spray. Gentle and doesn't break hair when used carefully. Thinner hair girls will adore. There is a reason this had been a long long time favorite back when bouffant styles were in vogue. A great investment and can't beat the price!

Great brush
Purchased

This brush is great for brushing hair back into a ponytail/half-up style without getting the annoying bumps from regular brushes in addition to backcombing volume. I bought this and the small brush, and I like the small one better only because its easier for me to maneuver. This is great for big volume.

Decent brush
Purchased

Great for styling! My hair is super thick and gets very knotty, so this isn't going to be a complete replacement for my normal brush. Great for finishing, made my hair soft and shiny. This is a wooden handle with a combination of super soft and stiff bristles. This is still pretty small, even though it's the "big" version.
I was happy with this purchase overall.

Love it!!! Worth every star...
Purchased

The bristles are firm and flattens hair and helps when untangling, I used it on my daughter and it was a success. I am not going to say it untangles your hair completely because my daughter's hair is so long (past her rear) that it was hard to brush all the way down do I had to use my almost toothless comb to finish the very hard tangles but she normally cries out when getting her hair untangle but this brush and the smaller one where a blessing.
I am happy I bought both sizes, I will be definetely checking out this brand. Worth every penny if I don't have to listen to my daughter cry and plead for me to stop brushing her hair.
